I wanted to share some pictures of the food bag delivery done with food purchased through ABLE. Due to the severe “lock down” for coronavirus, many are struggling just to provide a meal for their families. The populations we serve, already at risk and with minimal to no resources, have been impacted even more severely with the closing of the markets in their area. These pictures are of Brother Luis and Kevin distributing food bags to the families and kids served by their programs in the area surrounding Central American Mission Church. During this distribution ABLE provided food for 30 kids and 18 adults from 19 families. The food bags provided included staples such as rice, beans, corn meal, sugar, dried milk, oil, pasta, etc. This should provide meals for these families for at least a couple of weeks as they often are not used to eating more than one meal per day.
We have also funded food bags for Pastor Paco’s church which serves former gang members. This is another group that was already struggling to feed their families prior to COVID-19. In addition, we are trying to develop resources for our friends in Cojutepeque. This is an area where there are many with disabilities already living in very poor communities with little or no help.
Although the need is great everywhere, the resources in the United States far outweigh those found in a developing country. Even with the many struggles that Americans are going through our blessings far outweigh those found in El Salvador and elsewhere.
